The situationopen

You have the data engine, the energy DNA, and the customers: the economic development organizations (EDOs) racing to win projects for their regions. The gap is the product surface. Your team is elite at backend and data, with no front-end or design function yet. That is exactly the layer we are built to provide.

We make site selection lead with time-to-power, turn the 24-to-48-hour RFI race into an afternoon, and keep new tenants from churning in week one. We sell the outcome: more projects won, faster onboarding, lower churn, larger contracts. Not pixels, and not "AI."

Why Suncraftopen

An economist who became a designer

Jazz went economics, U.S. Treasury economist, data science, product, then design, and built an early matchmaking platform for USAID. You are ex-Palantir and a Stanford energy-systems PhD. We have sat on your side of the table, in government and in data, long before we opened a design tool.

We have built your product before

Descartes Labs, a geospatial platform serving energy and U.S. defense, came to us backend-strong and design-poor. We unified a fractured product surface into one system, automated self-service onboarding, and helped them reach acquisition by EarthDaily Analytics. That is your shape of problem, one step earlier.

We are the front end of backend teams

As Flow Labs' founding design partner, we built the rails that let a backend-heavy gov-tech team keep shipping with little tech debt, and deploy across a dozen states.

We have designed the prospecting pattern

For USAID we built a matchmaking marketplace connecting innovators to funders on a national-scale database. That is your Business Recruitment workflow.

We make expert tools people actually adopt

We turned Sentropy's spreadsheet-like, expert-only tool into an activating workflow. It was acquired by Discord.

We ship in your stack, not in Figma

Our designers are design engineers. You get real React and Storybook rails your team keeps customizing per tenant, not files you have to rebuild.

Track record

Founding partner across real exits: Sentropy to Discord, Goldcast to Cvent, Make to Celonis, Descartes to EarthDaily. Jazz's government background runs through the U.S. Treasury and USAID; Suncraft's client work spans Google, Spotify, Ursa Major, and Innovative Space Carrier.

What we would build, by workflowopen

Business Recruitment

Score and target companies by propensity-to-expand and fit to this region, with a why-this-score panel an analyst can defend.

RFI Response

Turn the 24-to-48-hour RFI scramble into an afternoon: a structured composer that maps every requirement to a scored, shortlist-ready packet.

Site Development

Make power the first-class siting object: readiness scorecards, interconnection headroom, and labor-shed models, shared across every workflow.

The differenceopen

Energy DNA as the wedge

We make power the first-class siting object (MW, substation headroom, kV proximity, interconnection queue, time-to-energize), the new number-one disqualifier that incumbents bolt on and InSitu can own.

A spatial, non-chat workspace

Built for the work analysts actually do: exploration, side-by-side comparison, and drill-down, where a chat box demonstrably fails.

Designers who ship

Design engineers delivering real React and Storybook, so you get working rails your team keeps building, not static mockups.

A direct fix for week-one churn

Defined per-workflow activation events, guided empty states, and pre-seeded sample regions so value is visible at first login.

Trust built for skeptical EDOs

Cite-to-evidence on every inferred figure and visible confidence, never a black box.

Multi-tenant by config, not by fork

A token-driven theming engine so each EDO is branded instantly and your team scales tenants without rebuilding.

How it worksopen
RetainerFlexes across product, design, HTML-or-React handoff, and the brand and marketing system, acting as your front-end team, with priorities reset together at the start of each month.
RatesSprint-to-sprint is $17k a sprint. Month-to-month is $32k. Commit to 3, 6, or 9 months and the monthly rate steps down to $30k, $28k, then $26k, a saving of $6k, $24k, and $54k against month-to-month. Months are yours to use anytime this year; the 9-month tier can spread across a full fiscal year.
Self-sufficientEvery engagement leaves you self-sufficient: documented design tokens, a themeable component library, and a tenant-onboarding guide so InSitu keeps building after handoff.
SequencingRFI Response and Business Recruitment lead, since they win deals fastest. Site Development and BR&E layer on as the shared site, power, and labor data model matures.
TeamOne dedicated design engineer carrying the account, backed by a senior reviewer, David Scarpetti on project management, and Jazz on strategy and quality control. Weekly working sessions and a living decision log.
StackShips in your stack (React with Supabase and GCP), delivered as React and Storybook so your team keeps extending it.
TermsA deposit holds your start date. The scoped sprint is a fixed fee and credits toward a retainer if you continue. Retainer months are billed monthly, upfront. Target start: week of July 6 to 13.
What does the deposit cover, and how is billing handled?open

A deposit holds your start date. Retainer months are billed monthly, upfront. The Strategy Sprint is a single fixed fee. We confirm the deposit amount on our first call.

Can we pause, or switch between product and brand?open

Yes. Sprints do not expire, so you can pause a month with a little notice and pick back up. You can also shift focus between product and brand mid-engagement with notice, and we bring in the right person.

Do we own the work?open

Fully. You get real React and Storybook rails, documented design tokens, and a tenant-onboarding guide. Every engagement is built to leave you self-sufficient, extending the work after handoff without a Suncraft dependency.

How do reviews and feedback work?open

Weekly working sessions and a living decision log. You see progress in the middle, not just at the end, and can redirect before it costs time.

What is not included?open

Backend and data engineering. Your team is strong there, so we own the front end and design and hand off cleanly into your stack rather than touching the backend.

What does "credits toward a retainer" mean?open

If you start with the Strategy Sprint and continue into a retainer, the full $30,000 sprint fee credits against the retainer. The scoped month is risk-free if you go on.

How do the rates work?open

Sprint-to-sprint is $17k a sprint. Month-to-month is $32k. Commit to 3, 6, or 9 months and the monthly rate steps down to $30k, $28k, then $26k, a saving of $6k, $24k, and $54k against month-to-month.

What stack do you ship in?open

We ship in your stack: React with Supabase and GCP. Handoff is HTML or React with Storybook, matched to your team's build cadence, so your engineers integrate rather than rebuild.

When can you start?open

The earliest start is the week of July 6 to 13, with a deposit to lock it. We need a week or two of setup to onboard the dedicated design engineer.
